Date Mail Review March 2017

Date Mail is a date to door delivery service, they just made date night easier! A fresh date idea is mailed to your door every month, always a different theme and all with the intention of helping you slow down, laugh, love and create fun new memories with one another! Designed to help couples have fun in unique, meaningful ways, the products they use come from Canadian entrepreneurs whenever possible. They kindly sent us this box for review.

I am super excited to be reviewing Date Mail box today! This is their second box, and it will be my very first time reviewing a date themed subscription. I’ve always been intrigued by date delivery services; I think it is a really great idea. This would make a really great gift for a newly married couple, or a fun gift for yourself. I love the idea of someone else coming up with date night ideas for me. How fun is that!

Subscription Details

When you sign up for a Date Mail subscription you have a few options to choose from. If you want to test the waters you can opt for the Mystery Box. If you know you want to give it a go you can sign up for their Monthly Box, and if you want to take the plunge you can opt for the 3-month or 6-month subscription. You can also opt for the Date-velope which is a mini version of their box that arrives in an envelope.

How It Works

Today I am reviewing the regular monthly subscription. Here’s what to expect:

  • New theme announced each month as a tease
  • Instructions and everything you need for your date
  • Dates for a fun night at home & some that will get you out of the house on an adventure
  • Always unique & effortless

Here’s a look at the items/date idea we received in the March box:

Open This First

On the outside of the box there is a little sticker that says “Open the envelope on the reverse side of this box FIRST & BEFORE your date night!” Inside the envelope we have a Chocolate Themed Recipe and some chocolate/alcohol pairing suggestions. I took this as a little hint to go out and purchase some alcohol prior to date night.

Love Maps Quiz

Next up we have the Love Maps 20 Questions Game. Research says that to make a relationship last couples must become better friends. So, they want us to get to know our partner. We received a list of 60 questions, we are to choose 20 to ask our partner, if they answer correctly they receive a point. Some of the questions were:

  • What is my favourite restaurant?
  • Who is my greatest source of support (other than you)?
  • What is my dream getaway place?
  • What do I fear the most?
Chocolate Fondue & Body Tic Tac Toe

One of the items we received in the box is a bag of chocolate that is to be used for fondue. If you don’t have a fondue pot they suggest warming in the microwave. Since they couldn’t send us fresh fruit for the fondue they sent Pringles Sticks instead. They also encourage creativity and suggest a game of body Tic Tac Toe which is where the paintbrush comes into play.

Chocolate Trivia

Seeing as this month’s box is all about chocolate, they included a little game of chocolate trivia. There’s a set of cards for each partner to quiz one another.

Chocolate Rhassoul Masks

Here we have matching chocolate masks. We are to take some time to relax and apply the mask on each other. This won’t be for everyone, but for those that aren’t necessarily into face masks it will definitely provide a source of entertainment and an experience in itself.

The Roll & Sip

Now this is the part of the date that has me excited. In addition to the fondue chocolate they have also provided a bag of white chocolate chips that are to be melted on a plate and used to rim the edge of your wine glass. It’s a great way to experience your beverage of choice for the evening. This is a genius idea and I have NO clue how I haven’t thought of doing this before!

Chocolate Teamwork

Sticking with the chocolate theme, we also received a few little squares of chocolate for the teamwork game. Place a piece between your teeth and pass it back and forth until it’s gone.

Love Notes

Last but not least we have the Love Note portion of the date. We received 2 double-sided cards so each partner could write 2 reasons why they love the other.

Date Mail Review March 2017 – Final Thoughts

For this only being their second box I think they did a lovely job. They provided everything you need a for Date Night and it comes packaged in a nice little box. I absolutely LOVE the chocolate theme. It speaks to my heart. There’s something relaxing and sexy about spending the evening with you partner drinking red wine and indulging in chocolate. They definitely followed the theme and they provided some really fun date night activities. So far I think we are off to a good start. The only thing I would maybe like to see in future boxes is a more organized date night plan. I found all the details and printouts to be a little confusing, but that just might be me. I’m one of those extremely simple people who needs step-by-step instructions:

  • step 1 – buy wine
  • step 2 – open box
  • step 3 – make chocolate fondue
  • etc……

But that could also just be my overly organized, list loving, side taking over, lol. Regardless, I am SUPER excited to have discovered another new Canadian Subscription Box…..and a Date Night Subscription Box at that! The BF works out of town more than 60% of the time so when he is home we really make an effort to set aside time for just the two of us. A monthly subscription to Date Mail would make our date night so much easier and so much more fun. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the April box!

XOXO

  1. Maggie says:

Seems like this box is mostly filled with cards and stationary that only costs cents to print and they are charging $50 REALLY? That seems very steep and seems like you are getting very minimal for the price. Way to go trying to get money for this, there are many better subscription boxes out there that actually have meaningful items in them. I will definitely not be buying this one, buyer beware and make sure you get value for your money
