Ipsy Review April 2016

Well, it happened, I caved and reactivated my Ipsy subscription. You are probably getting sick of my indecision when it comes to this subscription, but I just can’t help it. I absolutely love Ipsy, and it is one of the only subscription boxes I have subscribed to on a regular basis since I started A Year of Boxes, but I go through this weird “I need to cancel my subscription and test out other beauty boxes” phase, and then always end up regretting it. So here we are, I have re-subscribed, and I am back with another review.

If you aren’t familiar with Ipsy it is one of the original beauty subscription boxes (or bags in this case) and each month they send you 4-5 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

Each month we receive a product card with our Ipsy bag, and I still haven’t totally figured it out. Is it the inspiration behind the items we have received, is it a theme, is it an ad….etc. Any who, this month’s card says “dreamers” on the front and “dream on” on the back. Does this mean my products have some sort of dream theme to them? Who knows……let’s move on….

Adesse New York Nail Lacquer – I’m excited to announce that I have finally started wearing nail polish on my fingers again. So this cute little bottle arrived at the perfect time, and luckily I love the color. This brand is a  cruelty-free, vegan formula and apparently it contains organic bamboo extract, argan and shea oils which strengthen your nails – this is exactly what I need.

Star Looks Cream Eye Shadow in Rose Gold – I’m not a fan of cream eyeshadow, but I’m definitely a fan of Star Looks products. I’m just not gifted enough when it comes to applying makeup, and the cream stuff kind of freaks me out. It took me years to get use to cream blush, so to be completely honest I will probably gift this one.

Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Crème in Wonder – I love, love, love to see Tart products in my makeup subscriptions! This is by far one of my favourite brands, and lip products are a favourite as well. This is a really pretty shade (I love anything with a red/pink hue) and it also doubles as a cheek color).

SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Serum – I love learning about new skincare products, I find it very interesting to see what ingredients are used and why. This one uses the power of rare truffles to reduce fine lines and create radiant, firmer, brighter skin……who woulda thought!

Lexie Beauty Dreamcatcher Tapered Highlighter Brush 522 – One of my favourite items to receive in beauty subscriptions – makeup tools! The only problem is my lack of skill. Luckily the product description on my Ipsy account tells me how to use this one. It says:

  • Smile and apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Then dust highlighter to the tops of cheekbones, sweeping up towards your temples. Hello, supermodel!

Thoughts: Can I just say how glad I am that I decided to reactivate my Ipsy subscription! I don’t know why I ever canceled it in the first place. I must have been having a bad day because I really do love this beauty bag. I love that we get a makeup bag every month, I love that we get full-size items, I love that we get well-known brands, and I love the variety. This really is one of the best beauty subscriptions on the market. So here is what I ask of you, next time you hear me talking about cancelling my subscription, can you be my voice of reason and tell me not to do it?

XOXO
