UpperCase Box Review September 2016

UpperCase Box Review September 2016

I LOVE book subscription boxes! Plain and simple. There’s something about the idea of getting a new book in the mail every month that makes me happy. I reviewed UpperCase for the very first time back in October of last year (way too long ago) and I LOVED it. The book we received was probably one of my favourite books I’ve ever received in a subscription box. Keep in mind that these are young adult books, but personally, those are my favourite to read. This was one of the boxes I was most looking forward to reviewing this month.

Subscription Details

I think UpperCase Box use to have 3 subscription options, but I’m sure a lot has changed since my last review almost a year ago. I noticed that there are only two subscription options on their website now, but that doesn’t bother me because the only one I am interested in is the Expert Plan. This option includes the monthly book and the extra goodies. It also allows you to participate in the UpperCase reading experience which includes questions, polls and videos that correspond to a specific moment in the book. It’s a way for you to get interactive with other UpperCase Readers.

The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron

Seventeen-year-old Nadia lives in Canaan, a quiet city in an idyllic world, hemmed in by high walls that are constructed of a material no one in her town recognizes. Every twelve years, the people of Canaan undergo a collective Forgetting, in the days before which the town devolves into a chaos of bloody violence, and after which the people are left without any trace of memory of themselves, their families, their lives. Nadia has never forgotten, however.

After I read the first paragraph of the book description (see above) I had a feeling that this book would be a mix between the Hunger Games and The Purge. If you haven’t seen the Purge, you must. I LOVE the idea behind it. Anyways, seeing as I love both of those movies/books, I had a feeling I would like The Forgetting. This is where I have to make a confession, I opened my UpperCase Box a few days before writing the review because I simply couldn’t wait. And I actually started reading the book that very night, and I am a quarter of the way through. Normally I don’t go through boxes until I review them, but I couldn’t help myself. And…..let me tell you……I am LOVING this book. I am super picky when it comes to my books, and if I can’t get into it after the first chapter, I simply won’t read it. This one however, had me interested within the first couple of pages.

The Forgetting Mini Notebook

This item fits the book theme perfectly. The Forgetting focuses on notebooks, and writing down your memories, so it is only fitting that we receive a mini version of the Forgetting notebook.

This is How We Roll Pouch

This is an UpperCase exclusive, and I find it absolutely hilarious. This is how we roll……..library book carts……roll……get it?

Certified Book Addict Sticker

I’m not much of a sticker person, but this one is pretty fun. Now I just have to think of an appropriate place to stick it.

UpperCase Box Review September 2016 – Final Thoughts

Yes!! UpperCase Box didn’t disappoint me once again. I absolutely LOVED my first box from them. The October 2015 book selection was perfect. I couldn’t stop reading it. And like I mentioned above, I’m not an easy one to please when it comes to books. And so far, this month’s book is impressing me just as much. My life is jam-packed right now, I barely have time to eat or sleep, so the fact that I am fitting time in there somewhere to read The Forgetting should tell you how much I am enjoying this book. It’s almost 8pm right now, and I still have 8 more boxes sitting beside me that need to be reviewed, but all I want to do is put on my pjs and continue reading my new book. I’m not sure who is responsible for picking out the monthly books at UpperCase, but I dig their style. Hopefully I get to review this one for you every month…..I am that impressed!

XOXO
