February Box

Happy Lunar New Year!  We wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017, the year of the Fire Rooster.  February is a FEATURE month!  These are tea boxes that features four unique teas all from one tea blender.  We haven’t done this in awhile and thought it would be fun to feature Petali Teas.  Petali is actually one of our original tea partners, having been featured in our very first tea box.  Petali is based in Alexandria, Ohio.  They are true artisans when it comes to creating loose leaf teas.  They handblend “with joy” in small batches to ensure freshness and consistency in each tea spoon of tea.  What we have always loved about Petali is the beauty of their teas.  The experience of the tea goes beyond taste and smell to incorporate visual complexity and texture of the dry blend.  We hope you love these teas.  There’s a whole lot of flavour in this month’s tea box!

This is my second time reviewing Amoda Tea and I have to say I already can’t wait for the next box to arrive!  Amoda provides such a great selection of teas from different blends and caffeinated levels.  I know my tea collection will always have something interesting in it with Amoda arriving at my door!

Each box will provide you with a few steeping bags.  This is such a nice bonus!  I do find I will use my steeping ball or mesh insert for my tea pot for steeping, so bags are only used when I take tea to go.  I can see how these steeping bags will accumulate quickly if I don’t stay on top of them.

Coconut Chamomile Herbal

Have you ever seen a prettier herbal tea?  Those are cherry halves you see in the pouch.  Floral flavours of chamomile, light fruit, hints of coconut and a perfectly sweet finish.  Sip this in the evening and let the chamomile relax you.

Ok, so I may or may not be sipping this one right now!  Wow!  Is it ever nice!  It’s everything they have described it as.  I’m not a huge fan of chamomile, but if they all tasted like this I’d be won over for sure.  It’s nicely and naturally sweetened without the need for added honey.  I love the hint of coconut and the lingering taste is almost better than the initial sip.

Royal Irish Black

We love finding classics with a twist.  This is Petali’s take on the traditional Irish Breakfast tea.  A strong flavourful black tea blended with vanilla, soothing malva petals and delicate jasmine blossoms.  Perfect with a splash of milk!  Sweeten to make this a dessert tea.

There is nothing quite like a traditional black tea!  I might have to bake up some scones to go with this one.  I don’t always go for the black tea when I’m craving something, but starting the morning with a nice sweetened black tea is always such a treat!  I’m glad Amoda has included this in my box, as I need to expand my black tea horizons.

Brambleberry Rain Black

Anyone else wish it was berry season all year round?  This black tea is super smooth and bursting with the flavour of ripe blackberries.  Be sure to use boiling water and cover the tea while it steeps to extract maximum flavour and health benefits.  This goes for all robust black teas and herbals.

Thank you for the instructions!  I never know how a tea should be steeped and I always appreciate a heads up to get the best out of a blend.  Being a black tea I wouldn’t chill this one, but will probably enjoy it with a touch of honey!

Boysenberry and Almond Green

Sencha-style green tea makes this smooth, sweet and full bodied.  This tea is inspiring by the flavours of a nutty cheesecake.  It is lightly fruity, like a spoonful of boysenberries on the top of a creamy dessert.  (note this tea contains almonds)

You had me a cheesecake…. Someone boil a kettle already.  I’m not the best at picking out green teas, but this sounds right up my alley.  This also sounds like it would be quite nice iced with some added frozen berries to it.

The Coconut Chamomile Herbal tea has such a beautiful mixture of dried fruits and leaves!  I couldn’t help myself when it came to photographing them before they steeped!

Amoda Tea February Box Review – Final Thoughts

I love this box!  It’s simple, keeping to the basics with what they provide, but going above and beyond with their selections!  You can tell they are passionate about tea and providing the very best to their subscribers!  This box would also make such a great gift to that ultimate tea lover you know.
