Amoda Tea March Box

Spring is here!  If you’re having weather like us, it may not be feeling much like Spring though.  We hope you’re lucky enough to be experiencing signs of Spring with early blooms and warmer weather.  Even if you’re not, these teas will help you feel refreshed and renewed and ready for the great outdoors.

It finally stopped snowing here!  So I think it’s safe to say Spring is finally on it’s way!  I’m happy to see that all the boxes are embracing Spring and everything that comes along with it.  I’m so ready to start seeing those blossoms and birds!

Wildwood Cedar

This is such a unique herbal tea that incorporates elements of the Pacific Northwest.  It’s a woodsy blend with a rich and complex flavour.  The longer you steep this, the more natural sweetness is revealed.

I love the smell of cedar wood, but have never seen it reflected in a tea before!  There are actually wild cedar tips in this tea blend!  There is also cherry bark!  So neat.  I feel pretty excited to brew this forrest!

Juniper Sage

A delicate white tea that is soft and sweet with savoury, herbaceous notes.  What an interesting sip!  Sage is a powerful herb that can reduce inflammation and offer a cognitive boost to enhance memory.

I love sage!  This tea is so simple with only juniper berries, lavender, sage and elderberries.  Any tea with lavender wins me over.  I actually purchase dried lavender from a local tea shop and add it to teas at home.  It makes for such a soothing and relaxing sip!

Gongfu Honey

A smooth and light black tea with a beautiful golden hue.  The flavour is beautifully honeyed with a sweet finish.  You can prepare this western style with two teaspoons of tea in a mug or teapot, or you can try out the method below:
Gongfu Honey is best steeped with less water and more tea for a shorter amount of time.  In this way, you can resteep the same leaves up to four times!

This tea doesn’t excite me as much as the others, but the method intrigues me a lot!  There are actually instructions for each steep, up to four steeps.  I do like that these leaves will provide multiple steeps, as I find the conventional tea bag will actually provide as many as three cups of tea, but often we only use it for one and toss it away.

Banff Trail Mix

Light and fruity with nutty and earthy notes.  Trail mix as a tea?  Only a company in the Rocky Mountains would think of that.  The addition of the yerba mate takes the energizing power of this tea to the next level.

Trail mix tea doesn’t surprise me at all… Amoda Tea is a company out of Vancouver.  If you have ever been to British Columbia, and particularly North Vancouver you will see the classic ‘granola life style’.  This means that you will see people hiking, road biking, mountain biking, or running, followed by a hot drink at a local favourite stop, every single day of the year, including Christmas Day.  I’ve seen it and it’s crazy.  I’m from the Pacific North West, but I’m not coastal, so sometimes I shake my head at that life-style.  But hey, you have to give it to them!  Committed.  And now, you can have that life-style wrapped up in your morning tea!

Amoda Tea March 2017 – Final Thoughts

I feel really impressed with this months selections.  All of them feel really new to me!  I’m equally excited to try each of them.  I love Amoda for the simplicity of their box.  They don’t overwhelm you with choices and only provide you with enough for a couple of cups or a pot or two.  You can always go to their website to purchase more of your favourites if you loved one blend over another.  Amoda Tea does a great job in theming their teas, but also making sure you get a great variety!  I always look forward to this box.
