Bespoke Post Review May 2018: Slash

Bespoke Post is a monthly lifestyle subscription box. They scour the world for fresh and interesting products. Each month they create a themed ‘Box of Awesome’ that will introduce you to a new and different way of thinking. In the previous months, they’ve sent aged cocktail sets, coffee hand-grinders, high-end shaving kits, and more.

Bespoke Post is one of the few subscription boxes that my Dad, Brother and Fiancé look forward to. They don’t really care about any of the other boxes I review, but when it comes to Bespoke Post it’s a fight to see who gets it. Trust me on this one. If you have a hard to buy for guy in your life, look no further. Get them a subscription to Bespoke Post and you will never have to worry about shopping for gifts again.

Here’s a look at the box we received for May….

Box Details: Slash

Think of this as your key to taming the great outdoors.

Chopping up kindling to start a fire. Trimming the bushes in your backyard. Slashing back branches on the trail. This heavy-duty tool, inspired by a classic design with its roots in Japan, will conquer all those tasks — and way more — as easy as a walk in the park. Or the woods, rather.

Japanese Nata Tool with Sheath

Cut a path with a blade that’s ready to take on anything the wilderness throws at it, and then some, from the outdoor experts at Barebones Living. Inspired by a traditional Japanese design, the Nata Tool combines equal parts versatility, functionality, and toughness to make an implement you’ll want by your side any time you step outdoors.

Moving on to specifics, the blade’s been forged from heat-treated stainless steel with a tumbled finish and a full-tang construction — lending your swing the extra weight it needs to chop through branches, weeds, small logs, and more. As for the handle, that’s crafted from naturally durable hardwood with a walnut finish, and affixed to the blade with stainless steel rivets. The whole thing comes swathed in a waxed canvas sheath, featuring leather and copper accents, a reinforced lining, and a loop that’ll let you easily attach it to your belt while you’re on the trail.

Finally, let’s talk usage. What can’t this thing do, really? From skinning bark off logs and cutting kindling, to beating back weeds, pruning branches, even splitting small logs (with the help of a wooden mallet), the Nata’s an incredibly capable implement. The one thing we’d actively warn against is trying to chop large logs, since you probably won’t succeed and you’re likely to damage the blade in the process.

Bespoke Post Review May 2018 – Final Thoughts

Out of all the Bespoke Post boxes I have received, the ones with the knives are the ones that stand out the most. Therefore, as soon as I saw the Slash Box on their website I hit the purchase button. It’s a given that all three men (Brother, Dad & Fiancé) would love to receive this box as a gift. But as luck would have it, Father’s Day is just around the corner so I’m sure you can guess who will be receiving this month’s box.

PS – I have gifted my Dad a couple of knives from previous boxes and he uses them both on a regular basis, no joke. He even called me last week to tell me how much he loves the Barebones Ultimate Tool knife I gave him. It was from the Terra Box and if it ever makes another appearance on the Bespoke Post website I will be buying two more of them……maybe three…….

XOXO
