Book of the Month Review June 2019

Book of the Month is a monthly book subscription box. Every month they release 5 new books which they have narrowed down from hundreds of new releases (so you don’t have to). Books are announced on the first of the month, and members have six days to decide which book they would like to receive. Monthly subscriptions include one book, but members can purchase up to two additional books each month for $9.99 per title. They kindly sent us this box for review.

What did I do before my Book of the Month subscription? I know…..I didn’t get to enjoy as much reading time. Want to know why? I hate picking out books. I find it so overwhelming. As much as I love reading, and always have, I just can’t seem to get use to shopping at book stores. But….ever since I started reviewing Book of the Month I have consistently read at least one book each month….sometimes two…..and at the most three. It really is one of my all-time favorite subscription boxes.

Here’s a closer look at my Book of the Month selection for June……

A Nearly Normal Family by M. T. Edvardsson

Eighteen-year-old Stella Sandell stands accused of the brutal murder of a man almost fifteen years her senior. She is an ordinary teenager from an upstanding local family. What reason could she have to know a shady businessman, let alone to kill him?

Stella’s father, a pastor, and mother, a criminal defense attorney, find their moral compasses tested as they defend their daughter, while struggling to understand why she is a suspect. Told in an unusual three-part structure, A Nearly Normal Familyasks the questions: How well do you know your own children? How far would you go to protect them?

Book of the Month Review June 2019 – Final Thoughts

I am beyond excited about my June Book of the Month choice. This is the kind of book that makes me want to hide in my house for an entire weekend and shut my phone off. A Nearly Normal Family is classified as a thriller and mystery – my kind of book! Reviewers say that it is a quick paced fantastic read and that’s exactly what I look for in a book. I have limited reading time so when I do pick up a book I need to be able to get into it quickly.

Update: Last month’s book selection was Necessary People by Anna Pitoniak and it was so good! I read it in record time as I didn’t want to put it down. It a story of two best friends from very different backgrounds. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting, and the same goes for the middle. It’s page-turning, really easy to read, and it’s exciting. I would highly recommend it.
