California Found Review August 2019

California Found is a monthly collection of expertly curated, beautifully crafted small-batch and handmade goods from California’s most talented artisans. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Inside you can find handmade items from lifestyle, makeup, decor, edible treats and more. There’s usually one jewelry item, one food related product and other enjoyable, wearable or usable items from local California artisans.

The cost of the box is $49 per month with a retail value of more than $90 and shipping is $7.95 in the US.

Jewerly

This month one of the featured artisans was jewelry maker Carol Roberts Lulu Lilibird. She created a sterling silver circle necklace with a rose quartz pendant or amethyst. I received the amethyst one and I absolutely love it. It’s dainty and delicate. Retails for $48 and it came in a precious box that’s perfect to gift if you chose to do so.

Spices

I had received an item from Gustus Vitae in another box and I love their containers with magnets on the back to hang on the side of your fridge. In this box we received an Ultimate BBQ Blend Bundle that consists of a BBQ rub, a veggie burger rub and a turkey burger rub. They all come in these tin containers that stack up one on top of the other or adhere to metal.

Skincare

Lenus Handcrafted is owned by Laura Lisauskas, a mom of three who loves design, who embraces sustainability, and created Lenus, an artisan aromatherapy and skincare company that offers craftfully formulated cleansers, toners, face masks and scrubs, among other things, with aloe vera base, plant oils and local raw honey. We received a 4 oz No. 28 Hydrating Hand and Body Cream that retails for $22. It feels really good on the skin, non sticky or oily, it doesn’t leave residue and it has a very soft smell. The scents are shea, mango and bergamot, the blend resulting in a delicate scent.

Decor

We normally get a home decor accent item and this month is no different, featuring a delicious and lush candle from The Hundredth Acre from Laguna Beach, Inspired by the life of writer and storyteller Robert Brink, this candle comes in a clear jar, is creamy colored, and it smells heavenly. The scent is Night-blooming Jasmine, retails for $25 and right on top there’s a circle shape book page. The owner uses scent to induce memory and share past experiences with those who smell his candles, in hopes that they reminisce fondly of their own. The line incorporates an aesthetic that includes books and literature, typewriters, libraries, famous authors and nature. Perfection if you ask me.

California Found Review August 2019 – Final Thoughts

California Found also donates 10% of their profits to help organizations doing incredible work in the community. For August they’re donating to the California Surfrider Foundation in their work to protect and preserve the ocean, beaches and waves. Am amazing cause and I love supporting subscription boxes that give back.

This month brought a little bit of everything to say farewell to Summer and welcome colder weathers, be prepared with our skin hydrating it in advance, light a candle and cuddle with a book and feel pretty with a cute piece of jewelry. Couldn’t ask for more.
