California Found Review March 2018

California Found is a monthly collection of expertly curated, beautifully crafted small-batch and handmade goods from California’s most talented artisans. They kindly set us this box for review.

I talk often about the boxes I look forward to receiving. The boxes that put a smile on my face. The boxes I open on the post office counter because I simply can’t wait until I get home. California Found is one of those boxes. It’s gorgeous and exciting and consistent. But not consistent enough for me to anticipate what will be in each box. That is something I never really know. I can count on the fact that the items inside will be handmade and beautiful, but other than that your guess is a good as mine. This is why I love California Found and why I think you will love it as well.

California Found March Collection

Welcome to the California Found March 2018 collection!

This month we can’t wait to share a bit of sweet, a nod to mother earth, some beautiful watercolours, a little bling, a little more bling, and some well deserved home spa time. It’s a super fun collection that you are going to absolutely love! Learn a little about each artisan we worked with in March on the product cards. Then visit their online stores and use the discount code on each card to shop their entire collections.

Here’s a closer look at the items we received in the March box…..

Four Greeting Card Set by Misstate Maker ($16)

A set of 4 printed (originally hand painted) California State Cards. Send a splash of color to someone how has recently moved from the Golden State or someone who loves the Golden State. The set contains 4 cards, 3 of which have “California” written across and one that shows just the state. The inside of the card is left blank.

First up we have a beautiful set of watercolour greeting cards. California Found is all about…..you guessed it…..California. So it’s actually quite perfect that each card has California splashed on the cover.

Dani Adjustable Ring by Robyn Rhodes ($25)

Robyn Rhodes established her namesake company in 2002 with the intention of creating accessible luxury with the heart of community. Each and every piece is handcrafted within the greater Los Angeles area, helping to support local artisans while maintaining the highest level of quality in craftsmanship, materials, and style. Since it’s creation, Robyn Rhodes has been sold in some of the most beautiful places and worn by many of the world’s most glamorous women, but she will never lose the company’s sense of community, personality, and accessibility.

Next up we have my favourite item in the box. This ring is everything! Really it is. I love everything about it. I love the size, I love the subtle detail on the metal, I love that it is adjustable, and I love that it is gold. It will look amazing on its own. Maybe just add a really simple gold chain and you are good to go. Oh…..and I spent some time on the Robyn Rhodes website and I fell in love with most of the items in her shop. California Found, if you are listening, can you please feature Robyn Rhodes in another box?! And Robyn Rhodes, if you are listening, can you please start your own subscription box?!

P.O.P. Candy Butter Crunch ($22)

Think buttery, toasty, crunchy toffee-like deliciousness in each and every bite. Our butter crunch is handmade in small batches using real, clean ingredients with no additives or preservatives.  Sweet and savory flavors are packed with premium nuts, excellent farmers market herbs and fruits, fine spices, and all-natural extracts (with no added sugar) that are combined and cooked into each batch so that each flavor is incredible and no two flavors are the same.

Customers tell us that p.o.p. has the “right level of sweetness,” and that it tastes better, softer, and fresher than other toffees and brittles they’ve tried and enjoyed for years.

It seems as though we receive some sort of food item each month and it’s something I really look forward to. In February we received a jar of Habanero Jelly and the month before we received the most amazing Applewood Smoked Salt. This month we received a sweet treat which makes me very happy. We received not one, but two bags of butter crunch candy which looks and sounds like a very addicting treat. I might keep one for myself and gift the other one. It will make the best gift……who wouldn’t want to receive a bag of crunchy, buttery goodness?!

CA Makes Classic Bun Pin ($40)

Chelseas Aiello is the creative behind – CA Makes – simply elegant hair accessories. Each bun pin is designed, shaped, hand forged, and sanded until smooth in her santa Barbara studio. The copper, silvery steel and solid brass materials are carefully sourced for their lightweight and slightly flexible qualities.

For this next item I had to do a little research. This bun pin is so darn pretty but I’ve never used one before. I didn’t want it to turn in to one of those items that I keep in my drawer and never get around to wearing so I spent some time on Google and discovered that they are actually really easy to use. I wear a bun almost every second day so this gorgeous little pin is absolutely perfect for me.

Neni’s Soap Shop Bath Bombs ($11.50)

Oatmeal milk & honey scented bath bombs with added colloidal oatmeal for an extra soothing luxurious soak. This comforting scent is reminiscent of a warm bowl of oatmeal, flavored with milk and a dash of honey. Soaks your cares away while skin softening baking soda, colloidal oatmeal and avocado oil leave your skin feeling soft and supple. No need to apply lotion afterwards. Your skin will be left with a light soft scent.

Moonlight pomegranate scented bath bomb. Moonlight pomegranate handcrafted soap, with sparkling notes of Citrus, Dewberry and Cassis to dress up the deeper notes of Musk, Sandalwood and Vanilla. This fragrance is deep and sensual with a sweet tart twist.

Lastly we have a set of bath bombs…..a personal favourite. We received two different scents – Oatmeal Milk & Honey and Moonlight Pomegranate. They both smell amazing, the scent is filling my office as we speak. I honestly can’t wait to use these.

California Found Review March 2018 – Final Thoughts

This month’s California Found is amazing, as per usual. The box arrived packaged beautifully, which is one of the reasons I look forward to receiving it. I love the attention to detail, the gorgeous product cards and the mixture of items we receive. I’m never left wanting more, but I think I mentioned that last month. I can see myself wearing the ring and bun pin often. The Butter Crunch will be a yummy treat, the bath bombs are the perfect excuse to plan a spa night and the greeting cards are a nice reminder to spend some time writing notes to loved ones. California Found is a box you must experience for yourself.

XOXO
