Dispatch by Breakout Review October 2017

Dispatch is a monthly subscription-based mystery that tests your detective skills each month with a new delivery of clues. Imagine a new kind of escape, one you can experience in the comfort of your own home – introducing Dispatch by Breakout. It’s a step apart from everyday entertainment—better than a book, more engaging than television—think of it as an immersive mystery where you wear the detective hat. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Subscription Details

Dispatch is such a unique subscription box, unlike anything I have reviewed before, so we are going to take some time to go over the details…..

The story begins with the first delivery, or dispatch, if you will. In it, you’ll find physical clues that lead you to the web and back to the real world to unravel a mysterious crime. Grab a friend, the whole family and your thinking cap, and get ready to put your heads together for one mindbending ride as additional details are revealed with every package.

Step One: JOIN DISPATCH

  • Subscribe to Dispatch and we will put the first package in the mail immediately. After that you will receive a new box each month.

Step Two: OPEN PACKAGE

  • Open the box to find physical clues that lead you to the web and back to the real world to unravel a mysterious crime.

Step Three: SOLVE THE MYSTERY

  • Unravel the tangled web of clues found in each package, as additional details are revealed with every package.

Good to Know:

  1. After subscribing to Dispatch, you will receive your first package in the mail. These physical items serve as an introduction to the story and draw you into this online/offline mystery. After that, you will receive an additional box each month with more items that further explain the story.
  2. Each story lasts for less than a year before a new story begins. You can cancel at any time.
  3. The first box will guide you to a ‘help’ line if you get stuck at any point.
October Details

Today we are reviewing the first series called On The Run:

“Murder, romance, scandal—this story has it all. Once you open your delivery, you’ll find yourself entangled in the strange disappearance of your closest childhood friend, who also happens to be suspected of killing his wife, a well-known heiress. With the aid of physical clues and details embedded online, you’ll follow each thread to deduce what is fact, what is fiction—and finally the truth—in this new experience from the creators of Breakout escape rooms.”

Checklist

First up we have a checklist for all the items in the box.

Let’s keep this in mind as we go through each item……

Your best friend James Smith has disappeared and is suspected of killing his wife Victoria Van Kress in their honeymoon suite in Maui. Victoria is a well-known heiress so the story has been all over the tabloids.

Your Journal

The journal appears to be full of clues, it is quite detailed and has some sort of map on the back. It also had a napkin tucked inside with a note from James.

Newspaper Articles

Three newspaper articles were tucked inside the journal. They appear to hold some clues as well, including Victoria’s Instagram account.

Wedding Invitation & RSVP Card

Here we have the invitation and RSVP card. The RSVP card includes the wedding website and access code……I’m sure we will find more clues there.

Wedding Program

Here we have the wedding program which appears to have a fingerprint on it……

Wedding Toast

Here is the wedding toast you made to your best friend, I see a few clues here as well……

Magazine Covers

Magazine covers with tidbits about the murder…..

Dispatch Review October 2017 – Final Thoughts

Wow, what an interesting idea for a subscription box. I am so impressed right now. My first Dispatch box was quite the experience. Going in to this I had no clue what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very detailed murder mystery. They have put a lot of time and energy into Series One – On The Run. The box provides a lot of clues, evidence and a great mystery to solve. They even take the experience online with little details like the detectives website and Victoria’s Instagram account (it actually exists). They really have created the ultimate experience. I love the idea of this subscription. It’s absolutely perfect for those who love a good mystery.

What do you think of Dispatch by Breakout?

XOXO
