Durmen Review February 2019

The Durmen Box… Finally, something completely new. I was very excited for the opportunity to see what other mens subscription boxes are doing, rather than just the typical big hitters in the market. I’ve never given a new box a try, so let’s get into it.

Durmen is a monthly subscription box that consists of 4-6 items every month, for $30. Before you ask, yes! It ships worldwide. It is a mens box that brings you items from menswear fashion and style, grooming, tools, accessories, as well as beverage/food items. On the surface it sounds like it covers some of my favourite areas. Especially areas I find many men could use improvements, so this sounds great so far.

The theme of this month’s box is titled as “Big Impact”. They say they went all out on this one, including their first ever mens watch, with a matching steel necklace. More on those later. There was also a little sample of a mens body wash and a mini pong set. I was intrigued to find myself with an ice moulder though as I will definitely find many uses for it, but would have NEVER thought to actually go out and buy on my own!

Side tangent here… When a subscription box can provide items like that, I’m impressed. By that I mean providing items that you can instantly find yourself using all the time, without it being an item that you would put on your shopping list to go out to buy! Items that you never think to purchase, but end up becoming something useful! Let’s get a bit more in depth though, I get excited on occasion… Tangent over.

Mini pong… Durmen decided to throw in a set of 2 pong balls and 12 red cups, mini sized… As if it wasn’t hard enough to play with full sized cups… I digress.

Next up, Nautica Bodywash. This mens body wash smells like a combination of spices and mint, as well as the woods all in one. I actually genuinely enjoy the smell of this, but of course it’s a sample size. It has however introduced me to this brand and I’ll be more likely to check out their products once I run out of this. Because I do definitely enjoy this scent. It’s not overbearing by any means, but it’s definitely there.

What about the necklace? Well, it’s a necklace. It’s a heavy stainless steel, chain necklace. They’re personally not my style in general but it is matched nicely to the watch, so I doubt you’ll go wrong rocking those two together.

The ice sphere… Oh the ice sphere… This is actually super cool, ha… Get it? Cool… Because it makes ice… Yeah… Anyway! This is actually pretty sweet. It’s a 2 inch diameter, moulded by silicone. I’ve been debating going to buy an ice maker for so long, but those things can be pretty expensive. So this came at a good time! Not to mention it claimed to do something I never would’ve imagined… They melt slower than regular ice cubes??? Understand this, I’m a simple man. A concept like this blew my mind. I can’t wait to bust these out at my next family get together.

Now for what’s usually the crème de la crème of a subscription box when included… The watch. This one has a removable silicone band and is quite beefy. By that I mean it’s actually gigantic. 51.5mm diameter and 14mm wide.

Durmen is a $30 a month box, so to get a watch in here is a deal in and of itself.

For my first time reviewing Durmen I think they did a great job. I like their packaging and presentation, and I predict they’ll only get better as they grow as a company. For the value of $30 this box does deliver. The body wash smells fantastic, and I’m getting lots of use out of the ice moulders.
