Gentleman’s Box Review February 2016 – Men’s Subscription Box

Last month’s Gentleman’s Box was pretty darn amazing. The January box was one of those boxes that makes you kick yourself if you aren’t a subscriber….hopefully all the men reading this are subscribers….and if you aren’t…..sucks to be you. They mixed things up and instead of including their typical tie, they included a sports watch with interchangeable straps….and one of them was camo…..bonus!

If you aren’t familiar with Gentleman’s Box it is the first subscription box that caters to the modern gentleman. Each month honors a noteworthy gentleman from the past or present. Items in their subscription box for men are hand selected to reflect the carefully crafted image of that month’s honored gentleman. Four to five products, alongside the latest issue of GQ, arrive at your doorstep monthly. This box was provided complimentary for review and may include affiliate links.

This month’s box is featuring “Our Favourite Dreamer” and as per usual I have no clue who it is. But……I actually took some time to read the product book this month, and realized that they give us some clues as to who the noteworthy gentleman is. They say that he was best defined as a leader in a nation-wide movement to promote tranquility between all Americans, and once said “if I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way”.

Deadsoxy Franklin Socks ($22) – It might be hard to tell from the photo but these are kind of a pink/red colour and I LOVE them. I’ve definitely become a sock snob over the last year, and appreciate a good brand, good color combo, and good pattern…… these cover it all!

My Suited Life Midnight Sleek Tie ($25) – I’ve received a lot of ties since I started AYOB, and believe it or not, I think this is my first black tie. We always get patterened ties so it’s kind of nice to receive a solid color. This one is very skinny but apparently that is the in thing right now. J is going to be on top of his suit game with this one.

Urban Professional La Camille Lapel Flower ($24) – This is awesome! I really love the look of a lapel flower, and love it even more when it’s black leather. I really, really hope J will wear this because it’s just that awesome.

Gentleman’s Box Silver Tie Bar ($15) – I’ve given J a few tie bars and he is loving them. I always thought they were simply a style statement but they actually have a purpose…they hold your tie in place…..it’s all making sense to me now.

Dude Wipes – Disposable wipes are probably one of my favourite toiletries. I keep them everywhere, and use them for everything. The product card says that dudes can use these to clean up their face, hands, armpits, and…..other things.

Thoughts: This month’s colour combination is pure amazingness! The pink and black look pretty swanky together (yes I just used the word swanky), and the black accessories are very functional as they will go with everything. It hadn’t really dawned on me until now that I haven’t received a simple black tie in any of my other men’s subscription boxes, and that kind of surprises me. Good job Gentleman’s Box, for including such a functional piece, but giving it a kick a** vibe by pairing it with pink and leather……the kind of guy who would rock this combination is the kind of guy I want to be friends with.

XOXO
