GlobeIn Artisan Box Review July 2017 – Bathe

GlobeIn is a mission driven company empowering hard working people in remote regions to connect to the global market. Their main product is the Artisan Box monthly subscription featuring exclusive, handcrafted products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme by our editor to bring you exciting products that make you feel well traveled and connected with distant cultures around the world.

This is hands down one of my favourite boxes!  We are talking favourite of all time here!  I don’t know how they do it, but they come up with such amazing themes every month and partner all the items so well with the theme – it blows my mind.  I love the practicality of the items, but they are also so beautiful, unique and treasureable that they feel like such gifts to receive!  I can’t wait to show you this box.

GlobeIn Theme July – Bathe

This month we invite you to celebrate the bath.  So much more than just a perfunctory routine, bathing is one of our most intimate rituals of relaxation and renewal.  For many of us who lead busy lives, the shower is the one sure place to which we are able to make a daily retreat, and where we may tend, gently, to the rejuvenation of both body and mind.

I think I have received a woven basket in every GlobeIn box I’ve received!  I have used these to serve bread and chips out of at parties at my place, used to hold gifts for others, stored desk items in them, used them for garlic and ginger in the kitchen.  Really, this is such a useful item, but it’s so beautiful that I could just have all of them sitting on a shelf together, and that would be it.

Hand Towel – Izmir, Turkey

It is little surprise that a culture famous for its bathhouses would also be renowned for its finely woven towels.  Since 2004, when he established his small business Bambu Tekstil, Turkish artisan Okatak Esgin has been infusing longstanding traditions with global innovation.

Suggested Use: Add a splash of colour and convenience to your bathroom, for everyday or for special occasions.

I really love this item!  I know, it’s just a towel, but it’s such a great size for travel.  It’s also super soft and I’m totally in love with the colour!  This will definitely be a new staple among my travel/camping gear!

Pestemal Bath Towel – Denizli, Turkey

A small town in Denizil, Buldan has historically boasted production of the finest hand-loomed cottons in Turkey.  In the ottoman period, resident weaving were tasked with weaving the outfits of sultans.  Even today, almost every household contains a loom.

Suggested Use: Tote along to the pool or use for baby care.

Another stunning item!  I thought of the pool or beach immediately when I pulled it out of the box.  It almost seems too beautiful to use for such activities, but I’m also a big believer in jewelry is meant to be worn, cars are meant to be driven, cake is meant to be eaten and towels are meant to be carted around providing you the perfect and most fashionable place to sit at the beach!

Lemongrass Citrus African Black Soap – Togo

In rural Togo, African woman have a 1 in 32 chance of dying in pregnancy or childbirth.  Additionally, without bus service, most youth must walk 10 miles just to get to school.  Both these conditions contribute to the fact that over 80% of high school aged students drop out.  All profits from this soap are directed towards disrupting these conditions.  A stunning 3,558 babies have been directly effected from such profits.

Silk face Scrub: Bursa, Turkey

In order to protect itself during it’s most vulnerable stage of transformation, the caterpillar weaves a fine protective coating around itself known as the cocoon.  A production of pure silk, cocoons are one of natures’ most luxurious miracles.  Emre Ustun creates his own transformations using a traditional hand loom to weave raw silk into the most delicate of skincare products.  Made from 100% raw cocoon silk, your new antibacterial facial mitt gently purifies the face and neck.

I just love receiving soap!  This soap smells absolutely wonderful as well!  At first I thought the small pocket of silk was to hold the soap and was confused when it didn’t fit inside – blonde moment?! – But am thrilled to see it’s actually another treat in and of itself, used to exfoliate the face.  I’ve had a hard time finding the right exfoliator for my face and feel like this beautiful silk pouch will be up to the job.

GlobeIn Artisan Box July 2017: Bathe – Final Thoughts

Wow!  Just wow.  How can GlobeIn make towels and soap feel like Christmas morning?!  I’m so in love with all of these items.  I can’t wait to put them to use in my every day routine of bathing.  Month after month I’m so impressed with GlobeIn, their themes, the items provided and the thought that goes into selecting the artisans behind the products.  I would 100% rather support a family directly than a company.  GlobeIn is the perfect way to do this!  It’s no wonder GlobeIn released a second box a month.  I feel like I’m already waiting for the third box to come out.
