GlobeIn Artisan Box Review October 2019

GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring handmade, ethically sourced products from makers around the world. Each box has a theme and for October it’s the Revive Box, curated with treats for a little personal pampering.

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

GlobeIn Artisan Box has a single subscription option, the Premium Box at $40 per month (all prices in USD). Each one is approximately $70 in value and includes 4 to 5 handmade items by artists from around the world. Subscribers can also choose additional products to customize their box. Shipping in the US is $10/month; shipping to Canada $22/month (your first box ships free); and international shipping is $25/month.

Each box comes with a full-colour guide to contents. It tells you where the products were made, who made them, how to use them, and what impact your purchase has on the lives of the makers. This month’s box also included GlobeIn’s annual Social Impact Report, which details everything from the company’s investment in artisan communities — nearly $2 million in 2018 alone — to the partner groups with which it collaborates.

Handmade Elephant Heating Pad, India ($25)

“Warm up your heating pad in the microwave for one to two minutes, and place on the back of your neck, shoulder, or lower abdomen to soothe aches and pains; or whatever else needs a little love!”

I have a hot water bottle and a large heating pad you plug in but never a heating pad that you put in the microwave. It’s definitely the most convenient of the three, and so comforting. I think it’s a brilliant thing to include in a self-care box. We’re off to a great start!

Blue Pottery Oil Diffuser, India ($25)

“Light your desired scented oil with a tealight candle.”

I think they mean “warm” the oil — lighting it would be dangerous (and not at all relaxing). I love this diffuser’s simple design — no need to plug it in or add water — but any of the essential oils I like aren’t safe for our cat so I’ll gift it. Lovely present for friends without pets. (I’ll pack it up with a tealight candle. We only have 100 of them, lol.)

Palm Table Basket, Bangladesh ($20)

“Store all your calming balms, oils, and beloved beauty products in your palm table basket for all self-care storage on your bedside table or armoire.”

I love baskets (as you know), and I love the colour and tray shape of this one. Like they said, perfect for beauty products but also all kinds of other things. (Mail, napkins, stationery, scrunchies, etc.) What would you use it for?

Hand-Crocheted Headband, Uganda and Peru ($25)

Another brilliant item! This headband is super cozy and I can totally see myself wearing it indoors and out (if my tween doesn’t steal it first). You can see the pattern better in the next photo. It’s thick, soft, warm and I love the colours.

The colder months we’re coming into are when I feel like I need some pampering the most, so I would be happy to have Revive Boxes ’til the Spring (albeit with different items each time). I think this one was thoughtfully curated with items I wouldn’t have thought of but can certainly appreciate and put to use. Total value of the GlobeIn Artisan Box Revive box: $95.

What do you think of October’s GlobeIn Artisan Box? Which items do you like best?
