Honey Monthly Review August 2017

With Honey Monthly you’ll find that they put a great deal of thought, research, and time into the selections for each box. Typically, each Honey Monthly box will contain a 3-6 ounce jar of small-batch honey and 3-4 other gifts from bees. These may include delightful home products like candles, goodness for the body like lip balm or lotion, or paper products like greeting cards or journals. They kindly sent us this box for review.

This is our very first time reviewing Honey Monthly and we are super excited to have the chance to show it to our readers. They started shipping in July so we believe this may only be their 2nd box. Upon first glance it appears to be pretty darn cute so you are going to want to check out the entire review. Trust us on this one….

Here’s a closer look at the August box…..

Featured Apiary: Chicago Honey Co-op

Chicago Honey Co-op manages four bee farms in the city using chemical-free methods to tend the bees and collect the raw honey featured in our August box.

Raw honey, unheated and chemical free. Our bees gather nectar from white sweet clover and basswood in the spring and summer and in the fall they get nectar from wild aster and goldenrod. In addition, there are abundant sources of nectar from the flowers planted in Chicago’s famous Garfield Park and Douglas Park. The variety of nectar sources gives our honey complex flavors that are unique to our city . You won’t find honey like this in the supermarket.

There’s something about a jar of quality honey that just puts a smile on my face. What would the world be without honey?! We all need a little sweetness in our life and I would choose a jar of honey over regular sugar any day of the week. Especially now that we are heading into the cooler months. I’m dreaming of autumn afternoons spent on the deck with a warm cup of tea and a teaspoon of honey. I’m excited to test this one out.

Honey + Fern Beeswax Tealights

Here’s the specifics on these little gems:

  • Handmade/Hand-Poured
  • 100% pure Midwestern beeswax
  • Beeswax has a light honey scent
  • Beeswax is a renewable resource and 100% natural
  • Cotton wicks are self-trimming/controlled curling
  • Cotton wicks are lead free

I love candles. All candles. And I like to have a few tea lights on hand at all times. I put them in my tiny mason jars and place them around my office when the mood strikes.

Sweet Comb Chicago Vanilla Lip Balm

Show your lips some love with this all natural balm.

Containing a blend of Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Theobrama Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Flavor.

I’m slightly obsessed with lip balm, as I am sure most of you are. I keep it with me at all times so I never get sick of seeing it in my subscription boxes. I am a huge fan of balm made with beeswax so I already know this will become a favourite. It has a really nice vanilla scent, not too subtle and not overpowering either.

Southern Gracie Ceramic Bee Pendant

This little pendant was a nice surprise. I wasn’t expecting to see something like this in the box. It is beyond cute!! So much so that I made a point of checking our the Southern Gracie Etsy shop. They have a bunch of adorable ceramic pieces. I don’t own anything like this. It is not only cute but unique as well. I absolutely love it.

Honey Monthly Notecards & Envelopes

These little notecards are super cute, just like all the other items in the box. I love the quote “bee happy, bee yourself, bee kind”. Life really is that simple. If you can be those three things – happy, kind and yourself – I truly feel like you will live a blessed life. I will definitely be framing one of the cards and placing it on my office desk. It will be a nice little daily reminder. If we could all “bee” kind the world would “bee” a better place.

Honey Monthly Clover Honey Sticks

Lastly we have some honey sticks which finish off the box perfectly. These are nice little travel companions. They are perfect for your purse, your desk drawer, or you tea/coffee bar. I’m glad they included these. I was hoping to find them in the box.

Honey Monthly Review August 2017 – Final Thoughts

I am absolutely thrilled with my very first Honey Monthly box. It was a pleasure to unbox from beginning to end. I love the simplicity of the packaging and the consistency of the products. I feel like everything went together beautifully. Honey Monthly is helping to support small ecologically-minded apiaries in their efforts to preserve the declining bee population in the US, and for that I am thankful. I love the idea behind this box. It would be a wonderful housewarming gift, but also makes a great gift for yourself. I am wearing the necklace as we speak, have already tested out the lip balm, have one of the tea lights burning beside me on my desk and have the honey tucked away in my tea drawer as it will be saved for a couple more weeks until the weather turns and I can enjoy it with my tea on a chilly afternoon. Honey Monthly gives me the warm fuzzies. It’s a beautiful little box and I truly can’t wait to see what the future holds for this honey-themed subscription.

XOXO
