Ipsy Review January 2017
Ipsy is the world’s largest and most passionate online beauty community. Co-founded in 2011 by YouTube trailblazer Michelle Phan, Ipsy is centered around the award-winning Glam Bag, the #1 beauty discovery and sample subscription service with over 1.5M subscribers. A Year of Boxes pays for this subscription.
Ipsy is my go-to beauty subscription. This is one that I always recommend, would definitely purchase as a gift, and love receiving myself. It’s the perfect price, the perfect number of products, and the perfect mix of items. It’s just a good subscription all around. And the bags are pretty freakin’ cute. That’s just a bonus!
About The Bag
This silver stunner was inspired by skyscrapers! Wear it uptown, downtown, or wherever you’ll be slaying this month.
Trust Fund Beauty Lip Gloss
If someone won’t give us a trust fund, we’ll take this gloss instead. Easily buildable, one coat delivered a rosy sheen, two coats added a more noticeable flush to our lips. Either way, these neutrals are choice when the end goal is a no-makeup-makeup look.
Love this brand! And had no clue they had products other than polish. This is very exciting. I feel like I should go spend some time on their website. In regards to the gloss itself. I really, really like it. It adds just a little bit of colour and a lot of gloss.
Pacifica BLUSHIOUS in Wildrose
There’s nothing like a swipe of blush to instantly revive your complexion. This one earns big points for the universally-flattering color, a shimmery rose that never leaves us with clown cheeks. FYI, it goes on a little lighter than it looks in the packaging.
This is one of my favourite beauty brands. I fell in love with them when I first became vegan. Anytime I see this in one of my subscription boxes I feel like the value doubles. I love it that much!
theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama
When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows.
I love that this is a multi-tasking product, I just hate the size and the package it comes in. I just can’t get use to these little cardboard, book-type, packages.
Jelly Pong Pong Coffee + Coconut Lip Scrub
It took every ounce of our willpower not to completely lick this stuff, which smells like a cup of coffee and piña colada had a baby, off of our lips. It’s so good that we’d keep it just for the smell alone, but it really works, too! A little scoop of the shea-butter and sugar scrub buffs away any trace of flakes or dead skin, leaving lips soft, silky, and ready for lipstick application (or a makeout sesh).
If you have never tried lip scrub, you really need to get on it. I love a good lip scrub, and only started using it 2 or 3 months ago. What have I been doing my entire life! This is a beauty must-have. I don’t use it all the time, but I like to have it close by.
Ciaté London GELOLOGY Top Coat
Yah, gel manis are fab, but the removal process can be a total pain (does anyone have time for a soak off, really?). Paint on this top coat and you’ll get the same salon-worthy shine, long-lasting wear, and that plump and full look that you just can’t get from plain polish.
This is one of those items I know I should be using, but am always too lazy to apply. Maybe this is the little kick-in-the-butt I need. Ciate is a reputable brand, but I expect nothing less from Ipsy.
Ipsy Review January 2017 – Final Thoughts
Ipsy did a really great job with my bag this month. I prefer not to receive face products and they kindly left those out. I received a couple of lip products, which I love, as well as a polish, bronzer, and blush. I am SUPER excited about the lip products and the Pacifica Blush. Pacifica products are my jam. I LOVE that Ipsy includes brands such as this. They really do find some amazing products to include in their bags month after month. You just can’t go wrong with Ipsy.
