Locality Box Review Summer 2018

Locality Box is a quarterly subscription box service featuring 5-7 artisanally inspired Okanagan products, businesses and brands. Their boxes are curated to reflect the seasons and will be shipped in the months of March (spring), June (summer), September (fall) and December (winter). They kindly sent us this box for review.

It’s a very exciting day in the AYOB office. Not only do I get to introduce you to a brand new Canadian Subscription Box but I also get to review the very first box from a company based in my hometown. Eeek!! So darn excited!!!

Locality Box is brand stinkin’ new, they are based in the Okanagan and they are contributing to the ‘SHOP LOCAL’ movement by providing their members with easy access to beautiful, artisanally made, local products.

Now….let’s have a closer look at the Summer Launch Box….

Natural Jacks Design Howlite Bracelet Set

Matte Howlite with Lava Stone diffuser beads and sterling silver, 14k gold fill, or 14k rose gold fill accents. Howlite is the ultimate calming stone, relieving stress and anxiety.

First up we have the most gorgeous bracelet set ever! These bracelets couldn’t be more perfect. I pretty much live in white, black and grey so these will go with everything in my closet. I also happen to love beaded bracelets as they are easy to throw on and can be stacked with a watch. I am truly in love with this first item. I wonder if they have a matching necklace??

Hemptation Tan Lines Body Oil

Hemp Seed oil and Pumpkin Seed oil team up to leave your skin soft and silky all day long. Packed with power house essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, pumpkin seed oil helps soothe, hydrate, protect, and renew your look.

I believe this is an exclusive product specially created for the Summer Locality Box. I found a similar product on the Hemptation website, but not this exact one. This exclusive body oil has notes of grapefruit, lemon, orange and vanilla. It smells fabulous! I am a HUGE fan of body oil. In fact, I rarely use lotion or cream anymore, I much prefer an oil. It says to use this as an after sun moisturizer but I am going to use it as my everyday moisturizer……it smells amazing so why not use it as often as possible?!

Sage + Quartz Good Vibes Air & Skin Mist

This air & skin mist is a mixture of witch hazel, ylang ylang, lavender and palo santo. I can definitely smell the ylang ylang and the palo santo. It reminds me of a smudge stick, which I actually really like. This will be a really nice room spray for my office. But…..I can also use it on my skin.

Okanagan Lavender Herb Farm Lavender Simple Syrup

With its beautiful colour and delicate flavour, our simple Lavender Syrup is a delicious addition to any cocktail or beverage.

Ingredients: distilled water, sugar, lemon juice, lavender*

The Lavender Farm is a very popular place to visit in the Okanagan, but I am yet to have the pleasure of visiting. It has been on my to-do list forever. Who wouldn’t want to visit a lavender farm?! I LOVE lavender. So I was pretty excited to see this in the box. It can be used in cocktails or you can add it to sparkling water. I have a Soda Stream and can’t wait to try it with that.

SkinSmart Organics Body Butter – Coconut Lime

Deeply hydrating body butter, softens and moisturizes.

Directions: Massage butter onto skin to hydrate, moisturize and to nourish.

Key ingredients: Organic Shea butter, Organic Cocoa butter, Avocado Oil

Here we have a body butter made with the best ingredients. I love discovering new skincare companies, especially those that focus on natural ingredients. This particular body butter smells like Summer in a jar. It’s absolutely wonderful. It reminds me of the beach or a tropical vacay.

Locality Scrunchie

Oh my goodness!!! I squealed when I saw this in the box. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a scrunchie for quite some time. I think subscribers could have received different colors and I am absolutely thrilled that I received grey. I love the color and I love the material. I wear my hair in a bun a majority of the time and this is going to be a great way to add a little style to my hair on those “messy bun” days.

Locality Box Review Summer 2018 – Final Thoughts

My first Locality Box was a total hit! I love it more than I thought I would. The moment I opened the box and saw how beautiful and organized the products were I was sold. I was a little worried that being a subscription box focusing on local products it would mostly appeal to customers in and around the Okanagan area, but that’s not the case at all. The Summer Locality Box has an amazing assortment of products that will be loved by subscribers across the country. Needless to say I am beyond impressed. I felt like I was opening a special gift and that’s exactly what a lifestyle subscription box should be……a special little treat to yourself. I am absolutely thrilled to have discovered a box based in my hometown, and even more excited that it was full of products I am excited to use. I am already looking forward to the Fall box. I have a feeling it is going to be amazing!

XOXO
