Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review September 2019

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a subscription box from the UK that includes six premium beauty and skin care products and a copy of ELLE UK magazine each month. At £15.00 or about $22 CAD/month and free international shipping, it’s one of the best beauty bargains on the market. September’s celebrates lookfantastic’s fifth birthday with some of the most iconic products in the industry.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

Look Fantastic the company is Europe’s top online premium beauty retailer. They carry over 22,000 products and offer free shipping to over 200 countries.

There are four subscription options for the Look Fantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD):

Month-to-month, $22/box
3-month subscription, $21.28/box
6-month subscription, $20.18/box
12-month subscription, $19.08/box

Shipping is included.

Each Look Fantastic Beauty Box opens with a gorgeous 20-page brochure printed on matte, almost card-stock quality paper. This one features descriptions of each of the products in the box and tips on how to use them; a look at some cake-inspired beauty products; interviews with OSKIA CEO Georgie Cleeve and Pixi’s Global Director of Education and Artistry, Amanda Bell; and a discount code for the lookfantastic Advent Calendar. It’s like a mini magazine, well-laid out and informative, if missing a bit of cheek. I’d like to see a quiz and/or some humour added to the mix.

And then there’s the magazine. Great size to throw in your purse.

Molton Brown London Bath & Shower Gel – Orange & Bergamot ($16.40)

“Discover an iconic Molton Brown fragrance with this refreshing shower gel infused with Sevillian Orange, Bergamot and Neroli.”

I love a bath and shower gel but just didn’t like the scent of this one so it’s a miss for me.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel ($22.96)

“Introduce a cult cleansing gel into your skincare regime with this peachy-pink skin miracle. With its delicate Rose Chamomile scent, this cleansing gel quickly and gently dissolves makeup, leaving the complexion illuminated and hydrated. Utilising Pumpkin Enzyme and Vitamins A, C, and E, this cleansing gel detoxifies, soothes and reduces inflammation.”

I’m surprised we don’t hear of more products with pumpkin enzyme, especially this time of year. This one did a great job removing the stubborn mascara I use and made my skin feel fresh.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream ($26.82)

“Give eyes a pick me up with this sophisticated eye cream. Designed to obscure visible signs of aging, this eye cream works instantly, brightening and refreshing the eye area. Helps to firm the skin, whilst reducing the appearance of dark circles for a healthier finish.”

I can’t say I see a difference around my eyes after just a few days’ use but Caudalie has a great reputation so I’m interested to see the impact after I’ve tried it for a while. (It’s a tiny sample but you really only need a tiny bit.) That said, it would have to work miracles for me to buy more at that price.

Sleek Brow Stylist – Dark ($10.64)

“Combining a unique angled pencil with a styling and blending brush, this innovative brow pencil helps achieve tailor-made strokes from thin to thick.”

I have fair brows and no plans to go darker so the dark shade of this one makes it another miss. It’s too bad. It looks handy.

Pixi Liplift Max ‘Honey Sheen’ ($19.68)

“Cooling upon application, this glossy formula soothes, conditions and calms lips — leaving them with a high shine finish.”

I’ve got nothing but love for Pixi products and the apricot and golden sheen of this one is so me. Great shine and feels good on. More Pixi, svp!

Bubble T Limited Edition lookfantastic Birthday Bath Bomb ($8.18)

“This cake-inspired bath bomb will help you to celebrate our fifth birthday with us. Infused with essential oils and delicate scents, mix up your bath time with this Bubble T offering.”

I made a bunch of bath bombs at a DIY workshop just this week so we’re well stocked, but I’ve got a friend who has a birthday coming up so I’ll save it for her. This is such a cute tie-in to the birthday theme of the box and I like the sprinkles. Very festive.

The Look Fantastic Beauty Box Birthday Box wasn’t the best fit for me personally, but I’m sure I’ll be able to find good homes for the products I don’t want. I have high hopes for my next one, which should come in November. (Lookfantastic is a monthly subscription but I receive review boxes every other month.) Total value of September’s box: $104.68.

What do you think of the September Look Fantastic Beauty Box? Is it a better fit for you, or hit and miss like me?
