Here’s a closer look at the items I received this month….

Included along with the snacks was a small info card that advertises MunchPak’s Snack Scanner App and a fun MunchPak sticker.

I downloaded the app to check it out and give it a whirl. It would have been nifty if there was a code to scan each month so that you could view all the snacks you tried. There’s no functionality like that for now, but you CAN scan each snack you received in your box to view more details about it in the app. Once you scan the item’s barcode, it should pop up and give you the option to add it to your cart if you’d like to purchase it!

Even though there’s no info sheet, each item does come equipped with a white sticker that gives you the name of the snack as well as a short description.

Vimto Still Remix – United Kingdom

This is a fruit juice drink featuring a mix of mango, strawberry, and pineapple flavors. It comes in a fun sport bottle and is more than enough to quench a thirst. It tasted fruity, and it was good at first, but there is an aftertaste that lingered behind. It reminds me of the aftertaste you might get from drinking a low calorie or sugar-free drink. It was okay, but the aftertaste made me pass on this eventually.

Fantastically Fiery Flamin Hot Claws – United Kingdom

Surprisingly, I don’t think I’ve ever tried any snacks from United Kingdom until now, and I’ve been really missing out! The Fantastically Fiery Flamin Hot Claws are claw shaped chips covered in chili pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and onion flavoring. They have a puffed texture, similar to Cheeto Puffs. It was PACKED with so much flavor that felt like it really hit me in the face. It was a mixture of savory flavors, but it was also pretty tart where it gave my throat a slight burn. I could only handle a few at a time, but I did really enjoy this!

Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Groove Cut Potato Chips – United Kingdom

These groove cut chips contain herbal flavor and spices like onion, tomato, and garlic. There was also a hint of chili powder that gives a subtle spicy kick that creeps up on you the more you eat it. These were my favorite chips out of this month’s box!

Fashion Foods Tomato Crackers – Thailand

This is also my first time trying out snacks from Thailand! I didn’t know what to expect with this, but the puffed crackers were dusted with realistic tomato flavoring. Each cracker was light in texture like airy crisps. It tastes just like the real thing!

Storck Knoppers Crispy Wafer – Germany

I’ve been a fan of Knoppers for a few years now since my local Aldi grocery stores keep this in stock. They’re my favorite, so I’m happy to receive one in my MunchPak! Knoppers are a multi-layer treat with a crispy wafer top, layers of rich cocoa, hazelnut, milk filling, and a chocolate covered bottom! It so delicious and one of my favorites treats ever!

Awake Caffeinated Caramel Chocolate Bar – Canada

The Awake candy bar is a milk chocolate candy bar with a gooey caramel center. This supposedly has enough caffeine as an entire cup of coffee. I broke this out during a long work day for a pick-me-up, but I didn’t feel the same amount of energy that coffee usually gives me. Nonetheless, this chocolate bar was delicious and it did give me a slight boost of energy.

Ulker Biskrem Cocoa Cookies – Turkey

The Biskrem Cocoa Cookies come in a pack with four and is convenient to bring on the go. The cookies have a crunchy outer shortbread shell filled with a creamy hazelnut and cocoa center. These were sweet and yummy!

Nobel Super Lemon Tablets – Japan

Wow – these Super Lemon Tablets are crazy sour when you first pop one in your mouth. After a few seconds of puckering, the tablet’s tartness settles down and a sweet lemon flavor gradually takes over. These are definitely fun to eat and the sweet lemon flavor makes the sourness worth it!

Kabaya Shakashaka Gummies – Japan

The Shakashake Gummies come with a separate packet of yogurt flavored sugar crystals. To complete the gummies, you need to pour the yogurt flavoring into the bag, seal it up, and shake it to evenly coat the gummies in the powder. There’s a mixture of gummy flavors including orange, grape, pineapple, and melon. It’s a very fun and tasty bag of gummies!

Vimto Tongue Ticklers – United Kingdom

Another item from Vimto this month is the Tongue Ticklers. These are sour fruit flavored chews featuring a grape, raspberry, and cherry flavor. These are pretty hard at first, but once you work it in, it turns really chewy like taffy. It reminds me a lot of Now & Laters. I love the flavor of these, but I hard how chewy it is because it really sticks to your teeth.

Nestle Rowntree’s Tooti Frooties – United Kingdom

Another favorite discovery for me this month are these Tooti Frooties! These chewy candies come in a mixture of flavors like strawberry, lime, lemon, orange, and blackcurrant. These taste like a milder version of Skittles, but just as delicious. Now, I can’t tell which one I like more!

MunchPak Review January 2019 – Final Thoughts

This is my first time trying out MunchPak and I must say I am VERY impressed! I’m not ~super~ adventurous when it comes to trying out snacks from different parts of the world. I tend to stick to Asian snacks or American snacks, but MunchPak definitely took me out of my comfort zone and introduced me to so many new AND yummy snacks.

This box had a lot of firsts for me. For instance, I’ve never tried snacks from United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, or Turkey! I think MunchPak did a great job with including a diverse group of snacks as well as a unique selection from many different countries.

My favorite discoveries this month was Nestle Rowntree’s Tooti Frooties, Awake Caffeinated Caramel Chocolate Bar, and Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Groove Cut Potato Chips! I’m excited to see what MunchPak has in store for next month.
