VanCity Box Review May 2017

VanCity Box is a Canadian lifestyle subscription box that sends their subscribers a box filled with fresh new finds from around Vancouver city. A craft fair and a farmer’s market in a box! They kindly sent us this box for review.

I feel like this box excites me, and that’s not just because they filled the last one I reviewed with jam!  Sarah mentioned last month that this is a box that is continually striving to find its stride.  I really like the type of items that come in this box; though random there is a feel of receiving a birthday present upon opening it.  You never really know what you’re getting, but you know it’s going to be fun to peek through and play with.

At first glance I really like this month’s VanCity Box.  All these items are items I would pick up and look at at a farmers market or say in Granville Island Street Market.

Mother’s Day Greeting Card

Oh my goodness!  A few boxes have been providing items for Mother’s Day, but I think this is my favourite card I’ve seen yet.  It’s just so darn cute!  I also love the pun and drawing.  This is right up my alley.

Wooden Magnets

This is exactly the kind of item I would expect to see at a Vancouver street market.  These wooden magnets are a perfect representation of north shore art.  They are small, simple, yet beautifully crafted.  This is the perfect gift topper in my opinion.

Nature’s My Friend Enamel Pin

Ummm.  Cutest.  I would 100% have picked this out for a number of my friends as part of a birthday present or just even a small gift to tuck into an envelope.  I love the quote, something I say all the time.

SeaLuxe Handmade Soap

Ah! I alway love a good homemade hand soap.  This one has such a rustic scent to it as well.

Pinch Vanilla + Mint Candle

I’m not actually a big candle person, but this one smells so good!  I just can’t stop sniffing it.  I find most candles to be really overpowering and can’t stay in stores that sell excessive bath products for too long, as I feel like I’m reacting to all the scents.  This candle, however, is really delicate in its scent, which I really love.  I think it might be the combination of the mint with vanilla.  Love mint.

Vancity Box May 2017 – Final Thoughts

Ok, so I may have been a little more excited about the jam that was provided in the March box.  Can someone please start just a jam subscription?  I’m all over that.  I did really like this box and am loving all the items.  They are all items I would keep or choose as gifts for friends.  I do feel like there is definitely a west coast vibe to the items, which makes it feel all the more special.  I think if their trends fall more along with April’s and May’s boxes this box could slowly creep up the list as a favourite of AYOB!  Keep up the great work VanCity Box.  We like what we see!
