Here’s a closer look at the items I received this month….

The theme for December’s box is Xmas Dinner Pack. In Japan, the tradition is to eat fried chicken on Christmas! Now that’s a tradition I can totally get on board with. Other Christmas themed flavors featured in this box includes potatoes, cranberries, sweet caramel and more.

Included in every box is a mini flyer with details, descriptions, and instructions for each item. ZenPop makes note of key ingredients that some people tend to have allergies to or other ingredients used in the facilities that processes the items. This is so considerate of ZenPop and I really appreciate them going this extra mile for people who may have food allergies.

QTTA Fried Chicken Ramen (Left)

This fried chicken ramen is super simple to make – just add water, let it sit for 3 minutes, and you’re ready to go. The soup contained a handful of corn, red peppers and pieces of fried chicken. Sadly, the fried chicken bits weren’t crispy like what one would expect, but it was soft all throughout probably due to the hot soup. Overall, I thought it was pretty tasty. It reminds me of a chicken curry broth due to the spices, and it was a hearty meal for a cold winter night!

Chicken Nanban Soba (Right)

The soba noodles in the Chicken Nanban Soba are made of a buckwheat flour which is a bit healthier than your typical ramen noodles and these were delicious! This ramen was also fairly easy to make and only took about 3 minutes before it was ready. The soup contained a lot of chopped green onion along with pieces of real chicken which made the chicken broth taste more flavorful and refreshing.

Teriyaki Chicken Jagariko Potato Sticks

These Teriyaki Chicken Jagariko Potato Sticks were my favorite snack out of the box and I’m already craving more! They’re SUPER crunchy potato sticks that have a strong teriyaki and soy chicken flavor. It’s very savory and full of flavor with just one bite. It’s so addicting!

Kabukiage

Kabukiage is a crispy rice cracker snack that is deep fried and full of sweet and savory soy sauce flavoring. It has a charred/smokey taste to it along with it’s thick crispiness, which makes it very addicting as well!

Chocoball Caramel

The Chocoball Caramel consists of a chewy caramel ball coated in milk chocolate. It’s a simple and sweet treat that’s apparently one of Japan’s most popular chocolate snacks!

Cranberry Chocolate

This bag of Cranberry Chocolate was a nice detour from the other sweet snacks in the box. The chocolates are made of a mildly bitter dark chocolate with chewy cranberry, crispy cereal, and puffed soy beans mixed in.

Puchi Chocolate Cookies

I’ve tasted other flavors from this brand of cookies before and I adore the small bite-sized shapes! These are so easy to pop in your mouth and snack on if you’re on-the-go. This particular flavor of mini cookies have a soft chewy texture with a chocolate dough-like center. Sadly, I’m not a fan of soft cookies and prefer crunchy ones, so this was a pass from me!

Splatoon Gummies

I’ve never played Splatoon before, but these gummies are delicious! They’re squid shaped gummies that come in two colors and two different soda flavors. Green is melon soda while the orange gummies are orange soda flavored. They have a slightly tough texture to chew, but are very tasty!

Grape Pureal Gummies

The Grape Pureal Gummies are unlike any other gummy candy I’ve ever tasted. I was taken aback by the outer shell which is a fluffy, marshmallow-like texture. Once you bite into the gummy, you get bits of chewier, jelly-like texture. I’m not really a fan of the texture, but I can’t deny that they taste just like real grapes!

ZenPop Ramen + Sweets MIX Pack REVIEW December 2018 – Final Thoughts

This month had a lot of hits and misses for me, but overall, I was happy I got to try SO many new treats. As usual, ZenPop did a great job selecting both sweet and savory snacks. I especially enjoyed the chicken flavored ramen cups this month since the broth from both was warm, tasty, and perfect for the winter season. My favorite items this month was definitely the Teriyaki Chicken Jagariko Potato Sticks and the Kabukiage. I immediately went online and bought a few more flavors of the Jagariko Potato Sticks to try out! I can’t wait to see what ZenPop includes next month!
