Here’s a look at December’s theme and the items I received this month….
December’s Theme – Lucky New Year Pack
The theme this month is Lucky New Year! As the new year is approaching, ZenPop included many items to bring you luck in the new year. You’ll find many lucky charms and wagashi-themed, or Japanese sweets, items in this pack.
Included in every box is a flyer that gives you in-depth details of each featured item and how to use them.
Daruma Brush Pen
This is a double-side brush tip pen featuring a thin brush tip on one side and a fatter brush tip on the other. You can easily achieve both thin and sharp lines or thicker and bolder strokes with this pen.
Mini Strap Pen
The Mini Strap Pen is a bonus item this month that everyone receives! It’s an adorable miniature pen that comes with a strap. Attach it to your bag or purse so that you’ll always have a pen handy when you need it!
2019 New Year Postcard
2019 is the year of the pig/boar, so ZenPop included a pack of adorable postcards featuring the lucky animal. Each pack comes with 4 postcards and there are several different designs you could receive. It’s almost too cute to use, but I’ll definitely spare one or two to wish my friends good luck in the new year!
Mamimu Memo
This memo pad looks just like a mini book with a decorative cover and spine too! Mamimu Memos are matchbox size notepads (ma = matchbox, mi = mini, mu = traditional/old) and these truly fit inside your pocket. It comes in several different designs, and I got a brilliant teal blue book with red and white koi fish. It’s great for jotting down little notes or keeping track of your grocery lists and to-do items!
Sanrio Jeweled Pencil
You’ll receive the Sanrio Jeweled Pencil with either Cinnamonroll or Pom Pom Purin. I received a light yellow pencil with Pom Pom Purin printed all over. It comes with a pretty jewel at the top of the pencil instead of an eraser.
Pencil Sharpener
The pencil sharpener pairs perfectly with the wooden Sanrio pencil. This is another variation item that comes in 4 different designs. I received a blue sharpener with kawaii penguins and tiny glitter sparkles all around. Plus, the top flips open, so you can easily dump out the pencil shavings.
Japanese Sweets Eraser
Now that you have a new pencil and a pencil sharpener, you’ll need an eraser to complete the set! ZenPop included an eraser in the form of wagashi, or Japanese traditional sweets. I got the popular Taiyaki (fish-shaped treat) that’s usually filled with red beans. It looks so much like the real thing, but sadly it is not scented.
Japanese Sweets Sticky Notes
No stationary box is complete without sticky notes! This month features a pack of sticky notes with wagashi designs like white rabbit shaped sweet buns, mochi, and other yummy desserts.
Lucky Washi Tape
To wish you luck in the new year, ZenPop included one of three lucky washi tapes. I received the “Good Luck” version which features many lucky symbols like the lucky white cat, an origami crane, and more!
Schedule Sticker (Left)
These schedule stickers make decorating your agenda/planner so easy. Plus, it instantly turns up your planner’s cuteness level x10. I got the panda version with specially made designs for annual events like road trips, seeing fireworks, and birthdays. There’s also a daily schedule events section that has stickers of grabbing a drink, eating dinner, getting a haircut or grocery shopping!
Japanese Sweets Washi Stickers (Right)
Yes, more wagashi-themed items! These stickers are made from washi, or Japanese paper, and come in 10 different designs in the shape of yummy desserts like Taiyaki, Dango, Senbei and more. They all have faces too which make them even cuter!
Bonus Item (Subscription Packs Only) – Japanese Breakfast Stickers ( Center)
The bonus item this month is a pack of stickers featuring typical Japanese breakfast foods like miso soup, salmon, bowls of rice, and more. This is the last bonus item to be feature in ZenPop Stationary Packs since they will be switching to a subscription only model starting January 2019.
ZenPop Stationery Pack December Review – Final Thoughts
I am so pleased with this month’s Stationery Pack from ZenPop! My zodiac animal is of the pig, so I was happy to see a box featuring items celebrating this and welcoming the new year. I noticed that ZenPop included a handful of sticker sheets as well as wagashi-themed stationery items for December. I personally like both of these items, but might have enjoyed a little more variety (maybe one less sticker sheet). My favorite items this month is definitely the Japanese Sweets Eraser and the Mamimu Memo. I loved how realistic and yummy the eraser looked and the memo pad comes in the shape of a miniature, pocket-sized book!
