GlobeIn Artisan Box Review April 2019
GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring handmade, ethically sourced products from makers around the world. Each Premium Box has a theme and this month it’s The Slurp Box. Usually I like to be surprised but I saw a couple of the things in this month’s box when I was scrolling through Instagram (GlobeIn has a gorgeous feed!) so I peeped the spoilers on A Year of Boxes for a closer look. It’s a good one, mes amies!

There are two subscription options for the GlobeIn Artisan Box (all prices in USD):
Essential Box ($10 per month): Choose your own products and receive add-on credit to pick your own selection at members-only prices, or receive the surprise item of the month. Shipping in the US is $3/month; shipping to Canada $12/month (your first box ships free); and international shipping is $15/month.
Premium Box ($40 per month): Each Premium Box is approximately $70 in value and includes 4 to 5 handmade items by artists from around the world. Subscribers can also choose additional products to customize their box. Shipping in the US is $10/month; shipping to Canada $22/month (your first box ships free); and international shipping is $25/month.
Each GlobeIn Artisan Box comes with a glossy, full-colour guide to contents. You learn a little bit about each product, including where it was made, how to use it, who made it, and what impact your purchase has on the lives of those who made it.
Amapola Palm Leaf Basket, Mexico ($15)
Use to store vegetables in the fridge, or dried bundles of pastas and rice in the pantry.
I have another one of these handwoven baskets from a previous box and I just love it. I hadn’t thought to use it in the kitchen but I can see myself using this one to store pasta, rice, or a collection of teas. I love the colour and the pattern.
Fair Trade Forbidden Rice® Ramen, China ($3.50)
This single serving was tucked inside the basket. It’s gluten free, whole grain, made with organic, non-GMO rice, low fat, vegan and cooks in four minutes. Magic! You can use it in the Roasted Butternut Squash with Gingered Kale Ramen recipe in the guide, or any other way you like. I can’t wait to make it for my kiddos! They’ve never had ramen and I just saw Antoni make a gorgeous ramen dish on Queer Eye so I’m totally inspired.
Sana Noodle Bowl, Tunisia ($40.00)
What a gorgeous bowl! It’s made by seven different artisans, dishwasher safe and designed to hold chopsticks. Wait — that must mean it comes with those too!
Handcarved Elephant Chopsticks, Kenya ($15.00)
And here they are! Can you see the elephant head at the top? They’re made of Jacaranda wood and diswasher safe (but I think I’ll wash these by hand).
I love this set so much! I only wish there were two. (You can buy several individual items from GlobeIn online but I don’t see these on the site.)
Sana Sauce Dish, Tunisia ($12.00)
I love how this dish matches the bowl. It’s perfect for sauce, but you could also use it for jewellery, thumbtacks, and other bits and bobs. Gorgeous!
April’s GlobeIn Artisan Box is valued at $85.50 and I think it’s my favourite GlobeIn delivery yet. Each of the items are useful, beautiful and to my taste, and I love that the bowl is dishwasher safe. GlobeIn makes a great gift for so many occasions — birthdays, housewarmings, weddings — all kinds of events. Better still, it’s a gift that gives back to artisans and communities who are able to make a livelihood from their work.
