In keeping with the season, this month’s flavours are Pecan Pie and Dark Chocolate & Cranberry. Each 380-gram bag contains about 8 half-cup servings (240 calories per serving for the Pecan Pie and 220 for the Dark Chocolate & Cranberry).

Dark Chocolate & Cranberry

Like other Oatbox granola blends I’ve tried, the Dark Chocolate & Cranberry is well-balanced, with just the right hit of sweetness from the chocolate chunks and the cranberries throughout. (Well for my taste anyway.)

A half cup serving doesn’t look like much when you measure it out but it’s pretty filling. I could easily have seconds just because it tastes so good but if you paired it with milk or some thick Greek yogurt it would definitely keep the hunger at bay for a morning.

Pecan Pie

The Pecan Pie flavour in the other mix is subtle but it’s there and the nuts add a nice crunch. This would be delicious mixed with butter to top an apple crisp or rolled into balls with pulverized dates or figs. (Great for snacking on the go!)

The recipe cards feature a Holiday Themed Banana Split made with Oatbox’s Spiced Dulce de Leche (available to purchase as an add-on) and Patience Fruits and Co Blueberry Crepes made with Patience Fruits and Co’s Blueberry Juice (available in stores) and whatever granola you like sprinkled on top. The photographs alone make me want to try them, and both look fairly quick and easy. (Well crepes take some time, but no more than Sunday morning pancakes.)

Oatbox granola tastes great and for blends that are handmade, full of nutritious goodness and delivered to your door, it’s a solid value. It makes a unique and thoughtful gift that will be used and enjoyed, especially this time of year when so many of us are craving hearty comfort foods that sustain us through those long walks in the snow.
