Supply Pod Review Summer 2017

Supply Pod is the premium mystery box where science meets science fiction. Curated by the professional geeks at Outer Places and delivered to your mailbox every 3 months. Just $39.99. They kindly sent us this box for review.

This will be my third time reviewing Supply Pod and I have to say, I am really loving this box. It surprised me because I never thought I would be so excited about a science box, but it’s done so well that you can’t help but love it.

Summer Theme – Genetics

Explore the amazing microscopic world around you with the Genetics Supply Pod. Each Pod includes a do-it-yourself DNA science kit as well as a ton of other fun items. Great for ages 8 to 80, and the perfect activity to encourage a love for STEM.

Exclusive Genetics T-Shirt

Created in-house by our design team, this T-shirt is made of high-quality, ring-spun cotton and is printed in the USA.

Supply Pod includes an exclusive t-shirt in every box and I think that is a really great feature. Not only do you get projects and learning tools, you also get something to wear….it’s perfect.

Decoding Genes with Max Axiom

We love this comic book, it gives a great overview of what genes are and how they work.

This comic book is a genius idea. It makes learning fun, and who wouldn’t love that!

Handheld Microscope

This pocket-sized microscope is great for looking at clothing fibres, placing on your skin, and inspecting dead bugs with zooms of 20x and 40x.

Is it weird that I am SUPER excited to use this? I usually gift my Supply Pod boxes to my nephew or my friend’s son, but I always end up playing with the products first. Last time I got to sit on my floor and play with robots, and now I get to play with a microscope…..love it!

Mighty Molecules

This kit contains materials to explore the structural properties of molecules and chemical bonds, including atom beads and bonding sticks for building molecular models and double bonds of chemical substances. The color instruction booklet illustrates and describes the following 10 common molecular structures: water, carbon dioxide, methane, ammonia, ethane, propane, ethanol, glycerol, hydrogen peroxide, and chlorine.

This handy little kit would have made learning about molecules SO much more fun when I was in school. Hands on learning has always been easier for me than reading a text book or listening to a teacher.

Creepy Crawlies

Five slides designed to give you an up-close and personal view of the things that may scare you. Do you dare to find out more about these creepy crawlies?

Now this is one item I won’t be playing with before I gift the box. I can’t stand creepy crawlies. But my nieces are going to love this. Family events usually consist of them chasing me around the yard with bugs because they know how much I hate them.

Charles Darwin Quotable Notables

We certainly can’t forget one of the most important names related to genetics and evolutionary biology, Charles Darwin. This sticker set is fun for the entire family.

I actually really love that they included this particular item. It adds an addition element to the box, and just one more thing to get excited about. I would love to see products like this more often.

Supply Pod Review Summer 2017 – Final Thoughts

Supply Pod continues to excited me. I never would have imagined myself sitting on the floor playing with science gadgets, but here I am…… The same thing happened with the last box and I secretly loved it. I feel like this is such a unique box because it appeals to a variety of ages. Even if science isn’t your thing, it’s still a fun box to receive. I love everything about this box from the packaging, to the product card, to the themes, and ALL the products we have received to date!

What do you think of Supply Pod?

XOXO
