ZenPop Sweets Pack Review August 2019
ZenPop Sweets Pack is a monthly subscription box filled to the brim with yummy sweets and snacks sourced directly from Japan. It’s shipped straight to your doorstep with free shipping to most countries. This is my first time reviewing the Sweets Pack, which is perfect because I have a major sweet tooth! I was kindly sent the August box to review.

Here’s a closer look at the items I received this month….
August Theme – Island Vacation Pack
“Let ZenPop take you away on an island vacation with this bursting box of sweet treats and savory snacks from Japan. The mixing scents of pineapple, coconut, mango, kiwi and banana will give you a mini holiday no matter where you are.”
Included in every ZenPop box is a mini flyer with details, descriptions, and instructions for each item. ZenPop also makes note of key ingredients used in the snacks or in the manufacturing facilities, which I think is very considerate to those that have food allergies.
Neo Fruits C (Top)
The Neo Fruits C is a ramune flavored tablet candy. It contains several fruity flavors in the pack including strawberry, pineapple, orange, and green apple.
Hi-Chew Banana (Middle)
Banana is a new flavor from the popular candy brand, Hi-Chew. I’m a major fan of all Hi-Chew candies and flavors, and this one did not disappoint! It has a chewy texture similar to taffy, and the banana is the perfect amount of sweet!
Gold Gaburi Chew (Bottom)
The Gold Gaburi Chew is another taffy-like candy that reminds me of a Nerd’s Rope. Except this one is much better because it has a delicious tropical pineapple and peach flavor!
Kiwi Mango Gel Gummies (Left)
This month was gummies galore! If you love gummies like me, then this month’s pack will blow your mind! The first one is the Kiwi Mango Gel Gummies. This juicy gummy has a soft texture with a gooey kiwi and mango center.
Green & Gold Kiwi Pure Gummies (Middle)
The next pack of gummies is the Green & Gold Kiwi Pure Gummies. These are heart-shaped gummies that are half green and half yellow. The flavor combination is a mixture of green and gold kiwis (hence the color) to give you both a sweet and tangy experience!
Dole Pineapple Gummies (Right)
The Dole Pineapple Gummies contain 100% real pineapple juice and the texture was a lot softer than the other gummies this month. These taste just like sweet pineapple and they even contain tiny pieces of real fruit for extra texture!
Coconut Sable
The Coconut Sable biscuit cookies were the snack of my childhood! This is a snack that’s been loved in Japan for over 50 years, and there’s no doubt why. These biscuit cookies are toasted with a light sugary glaze across the top. It’s a simple, but delicious snack!
Gateau Chocolate
This pack comes with two chocolate cookies with a soft, chewy, and chocolatey center!
Lady Corn
Corn is a sweet and savory snack flavor that’s very popular in Japan, and I wish it would become more popular here in the states! These crackers come in the shape of hexagons and they feature a super crispy crunch. This was so tasty and one of my favorite snacks this month!
Ottotto
This bag of cracker chips featured many cute sea animal shapes including squid, fish, crab, octopus, and etc. These were super crispy and lightweight crackers due to the hollow centers!
Lemon Ika-ten Nuts
The Lemon Ika-ten Nuts is a crunchy trail mix blend of skinless peanuts, roasted almonds and fried tempura chips dusted in a zesty lemon seasoning powder.
Pretz Mild Roast
I’ve tried many different Pretz flavors before, but not this! The Mild Roast is a simple flavor featuring roasted biscuit sticks with a subtle sweetness.
Umaibo – Teriayki Burger
This puffed corn snack comes in a ton of unique flavors, and this month features Teriyaki Burger. I’ve tasted this before and I’m obsessed. It’s full of savory teriyaki flavor!
Calbee Natsu Potato Wasabi
Calbee always makes the BEST chips! These potato chips are thickly cut with ‘waves’ or ridges. Usually, I dislike anything with wasabi, but this tasted more like the authentic wasabi powder rather than the fake artificial wasabi that’s often used in low quality sushi restaurants. It has a small kick that’s enough to wake up your senses, but nothing too overpowering!
Sumikko Gurashi Gum
This cute little piece of gum features an adorable design with Sumikko Gurashi characters. Sadly, there’s just one piece in the box!
ZenPop Sweets Pack Review August 2019 – Final Thoughts
WOW – this month’s ZenPop Sweets Pack was so tasty! Despite the name, ZenPop does include a mixture of both sweet and savory snacks in their Sweets Pack, though, I think this month leaned more towards sweets. This month was truly filled to the brim with many new-to-me snacks in a mixture of sweet, tropical, and fruity flavors that fit the theme perfectly. I enjoyed everything this month, but if I had to pick favorites, I’d pick the Coconut Sable, Lady Corn, Calbee Wasabi Chips, and all the gummies!
